Ebonies Ball

May 4th we hosted a very special event in memory of a special little girl, Ebonie-Mai forever 4 years old.

Ebonie was the loveliest little girl, we hope we did her proud hosting a circus themed event with entertainment and lots of dancing.

It is with extreme pride we can now announce that our application to be registered as a UK based charity with the Charity Commission has bee approved.

Our new number is 1182332.

It has taken a long time registering and we are grateful for everyones patience.

Swab for Charlie

One of our Gold Kids, Charlie, is waiting for a match to have a bone marrow transplant as part of his next step in treatment to cure him. Charlie has two types of blood cancer, treating this has been a long road, from diagnosis to now. Waiting for a bone marrow match is stressful and scary.

Gold Geese try to help in any way we can when a family is going through childhood cancer treatment. In this case what we did was to launch a huge swab drive both locally in Leigh on sea’s Old town, Southend college and further afield in London offices. We were/are swabbing to register potential stem cell donors on the world wide register. This registration takes only a few minutes and can potentially save a life, should you become a match. #swabforcharlie

Just within the first month of launching this campaign we have registered nearly 2000 new potential donors.

Again, thanks to everyone for getting involved and helping make this possible. But mostly, thank you for showing this family that we are with them. We Fly Together.

September is childhood cancer awareness month. The colour is GOLD. Our town of Leigh on sea, once again, went gold. From shop to shop, posters and window displays all showed support on mass.

This spread out to Eastwood shops, Rayleigh high street, Shoebury, Thorpebay Broadway, Westcliff. Someone even spotted one of our Gold Posters on the main road coming into Southend on the A127 by BRENTWOOD!

The work of Gold Geese is spreading, we have had some referrals of more childhood cancer patients on treatment, under southend hospital. The feedback from our Gold Mums has started to come back and we are so happy that we are now able to spread some happiness and distractions in these difficult times.

So much thanks to everyone for getting involved. The monies raised and the level of awareness we managed to accomplish was really a triumph.

We now have a number of children on our books, through referrals and word of mouth. We want to say a big thanks for everyones support.

With great sadness we've had to say our goodbyes to two children we cared a great deal about. This is such a difficult part of running a charity within the childhood cancer world. Our heart felt condolences are with these families at this difficult time.

As you maybe aware, our charity does not remove a bereaved family from our list of children, so we hope to offer some support over the coming months or years. This is not always the case and from experience we have noticed a drop in support from hospitals, nurses and charities when a child passes away. For many reasons our team can understand this, however our aim is to maintain the communication and support network.

Over the coming weeks Gold Geese have the annual Invitational Charity Golf Tournament at Thorpe Hall golf club, which is always such a brilliant event. This along with some preparations for our awareness month in September, where we will be asking all the local shops to GO GOLD - if you'd like to be involved or would like more information please get in touch at hello@goldgeese.org

Have a lovely weekend.

Last night I spoke about Gold Geese publicly for the first time. The pride I felt explaining what the    trustees and I are aiming to achieve was a little overwhelming. Getting to mention why we started and where we came from really made me happy. Its taken a lot of paperwork to get this started, and more to come getting our Charity Commission approval, but it's totally going to be totally worth it.

We have people offering to fundraise already and local companies offering their help and support for our Gold Kids, it makes our little community golden too!

Thank you Justine and Frankie of Just Fox & Just Cheek Leigh on sea.

As a big thank you to all the lovely folk that followed our founders story on Facebook since 2014, when we were known as Hattie's Heroes, we're throwing a party to launch us into GOLD GEESE.

We have a guest of honour joining us who will be announced on the night. We're also encouraging our blood donors and stem celled registered guests to come forward and collect a little crown of glory too.

Our founder and trustees will be there to meet and greet everyone.

Can't wait to see you all, any excuse for a party in Henry Burgers. (shout out to the legend that is Henry!)
